Hey, it's been a minute.
Dawarich is still your favorite FOSS, self-hostable alternative to Google Timeline. Since the last update, a lot has shipped: better maps, public sharing, flight history, a redesigned trip experience, mobile app updates, safer imports, and a small detour into changelogs, roadmaps, and posters.

3 months passed since the last public update on Dawarich, so I figured, I should share the news with you once again.

So, TL;DR first, then some details.
So, mid-March this year Dawarich, your favorite alternative to Google Timeline, turned 1 year old. Yeah I know, I'm late to my own party. But still, I have to write this post. The progress I made during this year is pretty impressive, at least to myself: from nothing, Dawarich is now a known and loved piece of software, that is being run on dozens and dozens of home labs, and so many people are tracking their geodata, I can't even imagine. I literally can't, since, you know, there is no way to know how many of you are using it. But almost 5k stars on Github and nearly 150 supporters across Patreon, Ko-fi and GitHub says something, and I want to say thank you to you, my good people, and those who support or ever supported us on the mentioned platforms.

Work pace have slowed down in February because I started my new job and I feel lucky when I have enough free time to work on Dawarich. And still, I have some good stuff to share with you!

First month of 2025 is behind us and I'm happy to share changes happened in Dawarich, your favorite self-hosted location history visualizer, during January.
It's time for a monthly update on what happened to Dawarich, your favourite self-hosted alternative to Google Timeline, in December — but since it's December, I'd like to share an overview of what happened during this year in general, too.
All in all — what a year! With the very first experiments about a year ago, I started working on Dawarich in March this year and it soon became my main pet-project.

November was a good month for Dawarich. I've added a lot of new features and fixed a some bugs, and, among other things, I've added a new Patreon tier. It's called "Hosted Dawarich" and basically offers my service of hosting and updating Dawarich for you. Take a look at the Patreon page for more details and feel free to ask me any questions.
